Phu Quy is a little island off the south coast of Vietnam. Just over 20000 people live on the island working mainly in businesses around fishing. The island is not touristy at all (as of January 2010) so don’t expect Russian discos and bars. You can expect very friendly people and some peace from the hard bargaining that you have to do in all tourism parts of Vietnam.

The island is a paradise for kite surfers who are fascinated by surfing nearly alone and not depending on parties at night. Electricity on the whole island of Phu Quy is switched off at 23:30 (and on again at 7:30).
